Historic Overview of Grey 1st XV 1894-2014

(By Nelio de Sa)

All data below I have collected through the years, this is the only correct historic overview of Grey College/Kollege Bloemfontein.

I’m still updating & this overview will soon be completed, it is 100% accurate & will be completed since 1855.

One should take note that Grey College / Kollege played their first matches only against clubs, universities, army, etc. and not against schools with data I have captured until 1914, it could be much later that Grey only started playing against schools.

    Nelio,

Dis baie interessant.

Ek het so bietjie “gebrag” by ’n kollega van my – hy was op die destydse Worcester Boys’ High..

Hi Riaan, it was against Cherries. I have Volksblad clip that confirms Grey 1971 was unbeaten & unbeaten since 7 June 1969 & closed of 1971 unbeaten. That year the Cherries played visiting teams & couldve been mistaken as Grey 1st by them? will email to u

  11. Dear Nelio de Sa. What a wonderful record of games, well done. I am 80 years old and had the wonderful experience of captaining Hennenman against Grey Collage in a Fichardt Shield match at Springbok Park. This game was a curtain raiser for Free State/Transvaal encounter. I am busy compiling details of my life for my family and details of highlights of my life. What I am looking for is the date we played and the result. What I can remember is that Grey’s captain played center. Your cooperation will greatly appreciated. I also wish you further success with the great job you are doing. Kind regards. William
