Andy Cosslett proposed as RFU Chairman

Loading...After an extensive recruitment process, the RFU Nominations Committee have unanimously proposed Andy Cosslett to be the next Rugby Football Union Chairman.
Cosslett has served as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the RFU Board. As Chairman of England Rugby 2015, the organising committee for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, he oversaw the successful delivery of the biggest World Cup in history.
The 61 year old has strong international business experience and leadership skills from working in global organisations over the past 30 years. He was CEO of Fitness First and InterContinental Hotels Group, a Board member of the Executive Committee at the World Travel and Tourism Council and a member of the President’s Committee of the Confederation of British Industry.
He spent 14 years with Cadbury Schweppes in a variety of roles including Chairman, Australia; Chief Executive, Asia Pacific; Managing Director, Great Britain and Ireland and President, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Andy has a lifelong association with the game which began watching his father play for Broughton Park in Manchester and NW Counties. His own playing career saw him play in England, Scotland and Australia. Andy began playing at Broughton Park Colts, then Davenport RFC before playing for Manchester University. He captained University Vandals RFC and became Chairman of the rugby committee. He spent three seasons at Edinburgh Wanderers before playing his last competitive game for Melbourne Harlequins in the mid-nineties while living in Australia. Andy is a Vice President of the Vandals.
Cosslett’s appointment is subject to approval at the next RFU Council meeting on the 14th October.
