Australia wallabiesCanberra – Flyhalf Quade Cooper orchestrated four tries with his clever passing and scored one himself to lead Australia to a 49-3 victory over Fiji in their rugby Test match at Canberra Stadium on Saturday.

Winger Digby Ioane and fullback Kurtley Beale scored two tries each and Cooper, number eight Richard Brown and replacement Drew Mitchell also crossed for the home side.

Matt Giteau slotted six conversions, while Cooper converted Brown’s try because Giteau was receiving treatement following three successive heavy tackles.

Fiji fullback Taniela Nawaqa slotted a solitary penalty in the first half for the visitors, who had several chances to score tries but either dropped the ball, turned it over, or suffered from ill discipline and were penalised when on attack.

Scorers:

Australia – Tries: Kurtley Beale (2), Richard Brown, Quade Cooper, Digby Ioane (2), Drew Mitchell; Conversions: Matt Giteau (6), Cooper

Fiji – Penalty: Taniela Rawaqa
