BMW Australia Head Coach Adrian Thompson has made five changes to the side that lost to England in the World Rugby U20s Championship for Australia’s second clash with Scotland at the tournament.

The young men in gold will be looking for redemption after their disappointing 10-15 loss to Scotland in the pool stages of the tournament as the BMW Australia U20s fight with Scotland, Wales and New Zealand to finish in fifth position and ensure the best possible seeding for the 2017 tournament.

In the forwards Faalelei Sione from the Brumbies U20s will earn his first start for the U20s at this tournament when he starts at prop, with Izack Rodda returning to the starting XV alongside Rob Leota who joins the backrow.

Queensland Reds player, Campbell Magnay returns to the starting XV having served his two week suspension for his red card in Australia’s opening pool game. Liam Jurd retains his position in the centres with Simon Kennewell moving to the bench.

BMW Australia U20s Head Coach Adrian Thompson: “We’ve had to make a number of changes this week but we’ve added some size to the line-up.

“Faalelei (Sione) hasn’t played yet at the tournament, but he has trained hard and is happy to have his opportunity this weekend.

“Rob (Leota) is also has a brilliant chance to impress with his first start and he’ll add some physicality to our starting pack.

“Having Magnay back will also add some experience and fire-power to the backline, and he is keen to deliver for his team after sitting out the last two games.”

Should Australia defeat Scotland, they’ll then face the winner of the match between Wales and New Zealand in the fifth place play-off on Saturday, 25 June.

The Australian U20s vs Scotland U20s clash kicks off at 4.45am AEST Tuesday morning at AJ Bell Stadium in Salford with the match to be streamed LIVE through World Rugby.
