Border, SWD and the Golden Lions maintained their unbeaten status in the SA Rugby Women’s Interprovincial competition on Saturday to take pole position in their respective sections for final berths.

Border, who won the last four A Section titles, stretched their unbeaten run to four matches as they defeated KZN 41-14 in Durban thanks to an impressive seven tries, and they currently have a three-point cushion over Western Province and four points over Eastern Province at the top of the log.

With a clash lined up against Free State, who have yet to win a game this season, in their final pool match, they certainly have what it takes to secure their fifth successive home final.

In the other A Section matches, Eastern Province defeated the Blue Bulls 25-12 in Port Elizabeth as they scored five tries to two by the visitors, while Western Province overpowered the Free State 61-7 in Bloemfontein as they ran in 11 tries to one, with winger Alana-Lee Horne scoring a hat-trick.

In the B Section, 2016 finalists, the Golden Lions, overpowered the Pumas 45-5 in Johannesburg and SWD outplayed Griquas 23-10 in George to remain the only unbeaten teams after two pool rounds, meaning a victory in the last round-robin stage will see them book their places in the final.

The Griffons, meanwhile, defeated Boland 31-24 in Wellington, and the Leopards beat the Limpopo Blue Bulls 19-10 in Polokwane.

The last round of pool matches will be played on Saturday 2 September, while the A Section log-leaders at the end of the pool stages will host both finals on Saturday, 16 September.
