Vodacom Blue Bulls loose forward Renaldo Bothma has been named captain of the Namibian national team that will play in World Rugby’s Nations Cup in Romania later this month.

Bothma also represented Namibia at the Rugby World Cup in England last year.

Commenting on this selection to lead his country, the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd High Performance Manager, Xander Janse van Rensburg congratulated the flanker.

“It is fantastic news and well deserved. We just had Adriaan Strauss being named captain of the Springboks and now Renaldo will captain the Namibians. It is great to have such great leadership depth in any union and the Blue Bulls are in a very fortunate position to have two international captains in their midst’s,” said Janse van Rensburg.

  • The BBC also confirmed that prop Dean Greyling has been released to join French Top 14 club Oyonnax with immediate effect.

“Dean has been a great stalwart for us and we decided not to stand in his way to go to France, where I know he will be successful, so we granted him an early release,” Janse van Rensburg confirmed.

“We want to thank him for his loyal services over a decade and wish him well in France.”

Greyling played for the Vodacom Bulls 67 times and 50 times for the Vodacom Blue Bulls. He also represented the Springboks in three tests.
