The 2022 edition of the Carling Currie Cup competition kicked off over the weekend with the Cell C Sharks having a bye-week in the first round. The team now gets the opportunity to get their competition underway with a head-to-head against Tafel Lager Griquas at Hollywoodbets Kings Park on Wednesday evening.

The Cell C Sharks will be playing a number of their matches in this competition during the midweek and after a long period without any action, the players will be relishing this opportunity.

Griquas have rarely come to Durban to be bossed around and over the last few years have really taken onboard the mission to upset the traditionally bigger unions.

However, for a settled Cell C Sharks side, under the tutelage of Etienne Fynn, a former player who wore the black and white jersey, this match is all about producing the goods.

Getting their campaign off to a winning start will be one of their aims, although producing a performance that satisfies the goals set in training will be paramount.

Head coach Fynn has named a strong, experienced side to host Griquas, one that will be expected to come out showing energy and enthusiasm and bringing the entertainment that Cell C Sharks fans so love.
