Sharks flank Jean Deysel, Lions flank Michael Rhodes and Highlanders wing Siale Piutau will all face SANZAR Judicial Hearings on Monday 30 May, 2011 after being cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby matches on the weekend.

The Rhodes and Piutau citings relate to an incident in the 59th minute of the match in which Rhodes used a headlock to clear Piutau from a ruck after which the wing retaliated by twice punching the Lions flank to head.

Rhodes has been cited under Foul Play Law 10.4 (e) for dangerous tackling of a player without the ball, whilst Piutau has been cited under Law 10.4 (a) punching an opponent and Law 10.4 (l) retaliation.

Both players have been cited under Law 10.4 (m) for acts contrary to good sportsmanship.

Both hearings with take place at the NZRU offices in Wellington on Monday and will be chaired by SANZAR Judicial Officer, Nick Davidson QC.

Rhodes’ hearing will start at 16h00 (14h00 EST, 06h00 SA) and Piutau’s hearing will follow directly afterwards at approximately 17h30 (15h30 EST, 07h30 SA).

SANZAR will announce the outcomes once the second hearing has been completed.

Sharks flank Jean Deysel will face a SANZAR Judicial Hearing on Monday after being cited for dangerous play during the Super Rugby match between the Sharks and the Waratahs in Durban on Saturday.

Deysel has been cited under Foul Play Law 10.4 (e) for dangerous tackling of an opponent without the ball; and Law 10.4 (m) for an act contrary to good sportsmanship.

Deysel received a yellow card after using a dangerous headlock to clear Waratahs centre Tom Carter at a ruck in the 51st minute of the match.

The hearing with take place at the Kwazulu-Natal Rugby Union offices in Durban at  12h00 (20h00 EST/22h00 NZ) on Monday and will be chaired by SANZAR Judicial Officer, Peter Ingwersen SC.
