The Coca-Cola Youth Weeks will once again be held during the June holidays this year. From 29 June to 3 July the primary school teams take to the field in White River in the Under-13 Coca-Cola Craven Week while the U16 teams are up from 6 – 9 July in Oudtshoorn in the Under-16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week. Also from 6 July Vanderbijlpark hosts the Coca-Cola Academy Week until the 10th, while the flagship event, the Under-18 Coca-Cola Craven Week will take place in Stellenbosch from 13 – 18 July.

This Coca-Cola Youth Weeks, which marks the biggest annual youth tournament, started in July 1964 and since then, it has become a hunting ground for talent scouts trying to find the best new players for their respective provinces and universities. Many upcoming stars also see this tournament as an opportunity to further their rugby careers.

The Under-18 Coca-Cola Craven Week is particularly popular among talent scouts, including the national selectors. For the players, meanwhile, the competition marks an important stepping stone in their hopes of possibly representing the country in the SA Schools squad, the Junior Springbok squad, and in the years to come, the Springboks. National players Handré Pollard and Nizaam Carr both came through the ranks of the Under-18 Coca-Cola Craven Week and Junior Springboks and are now in contention for a spot in the Rugby World Cup squad. This is what dreams are made of!

Only the best players in their respective age groups receive the opportunity to make their mark in the Coca-Cola Youth Weeks, and who knows, perhaps new Springboks will be born this year.

The event details are as follows:
