Get ready to brandish your sword in support of the Crusaders – Daiken Customwood Day of the Sword is coming!

The next two home games for the Crusaders – against the Hurricanes this Saturday night and against the Western Force on 14 July – will see 3000 foam swords given out to supporters at the stadium at each game.

The swords will be branded with Daiken Customwood’s slogan: ‘If it’s not Customwood it’s just MDF’.  They will also have a comment:  ‘Daiken Customwood – Tough and Resilient just like you and the Crusaders’, which Daiken New Zealand Ltd Managing Director Nobuo Kikutake says is a way of recognising the resilience of the West Coast, Nelson and Canterbury people in the last couple of years for dealing with the Pike River disaster, Nelson floods and Canterbury earthquakes.

“The return of the Crusaders to their home ground this year was such an important milestone for many living in the Crusaders franchise area, and this is one small way of acknowledging all that they have been through.

“We look forward to seeing thousands of fans brandishing their swords as the Crusaders run onto the field on Saturday night,” Mr Kikutake said.

NZ Tax Refunds will also be adding to the party atmosphere at the Hurricanes game by creating “WooHoo Moments” around the stadium.  One lucky fan has a Woohoo waiting with an average NZ Tax Refund of $460 to be given away, so keep a lookout for the WooHoo Cam.

Crusaders Chief Executive Hamish Riach said the game against the Hurricanes would be one of the most important yet for the Crusaders and the support of the home crowd is vital.

“We are coming to the must-win end of the season so the game on Saturday night will be fierce.  Seeing thousands of Crusaders fans waving their swords at AMI Stadium will give our team a real boost,” Mr Riach said.
