David Kaetau Havili suspended for 1 week
A SANZAAR Judicial Hearing has found David Havili of the Crusaders guilty of contravening Law 10.4 (a) Striking, after he was cited during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.
Havili has been suspended for 1 week up to and including Saturday 11 June 2016.
Havili contravened Law 10.4 (a) during the match between the Blues and Crusaders at Eden Park in Auckland on 28 May 2016.
The SANZAAR Judicial Committee Hearing held via video conference on Tuesday 7 June 2016, was heard by Adam Casselden (Chairman), Mike Mika and John Langford.
In their finding, the Judicial committee ruled the following:
“Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, including from the player and submissions from his legal representative, Mr Aaron Lloyd, the Judicial Committee upheld the citing under Law 10.4(a) for striking.
With respect to sanction the Judicial Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a low-end entry point of 2 weeks. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the player’s excellent disciplinary record and absence of aggravating factors the player was suspended for a period of 1 week. Accordingly the player is suspended from all forms of rugby up to and including Saturday 11 June 2016. The player is free to resume playing on Saturday 18 June 2016.
