DHL Western Province have been forced to make a number of changes for the SuperSport Rugby Challenge quarterfinal against Toyota Free State XV at the Green Point Track on Sunday.

Injuries and call-ups to the DHL Stormers touring squad have meant that Head Coach John Dobson has had to change things up for the play-off match, which kicks off at 14h30 on Sunday.

There will be a curtain-raiser between home club SK Walmers and False Bay RFC which kicks off at 12h30; entrance free and both matches will be televised live on SuperSport.

In the front row Scarra Ntubeni comes in for the injured Chad Solomon at hooker, with props Ali Vermaak and Michael Kumbirai starting either side of him.

Johan du Toit will be at lock alongside Ernst van Rhyn, with Cobus Wiese in Buenos Aires with the DHL Stormers, while JD Schickerling will make his return from injury off the replacements bench.

The only change to the loose trio sees Marno Redelinghuys at blindside flank, with Chris Massyn among the replacements.

In the backline Tristan Leyds moves to flyhalf to replace Josh Stander who is on tour with the DHL Stormers, with Grant Hermanus starting at fullback.

There is also an all-new centre pairing of Dan Kriel and Cornel Smit, with Dan du Plessis out injured and EW Viljoen in Argentina.

Dobson said that despite the selection disruptions, his team are focused on taking the next step in their title defence at Green Point Track.

“We know that we are in for a real test in what should be difficult conditions with the cold front hitting Cape Town this weekend.

“We have prepared well and will be giving everything to ensure we are still in this competition next week,” he said.
