  • Vodacom Bulls down Sunwolves to secure first win of campaign

Wing Courtnall Skosan displayed his pace and razor sharp finishing abilities by scoring four tries as the Emirates Lions mauled the Reds 44-14 in their Vodacom Super Rugby clash on Saturday in Johannesburg.

The speedster delivered an impressive individual performance as the home side walloped 14-men Reds who had flyhalf Quade Cooper sent off for a dangerous tackle on try scorer Rohan Janse van Rensburg. The Joburg side bounced back in the best possible way from their away loss to the Jaguares last weekend and they dominated all facets of the game.

Earlier on Saturday evening, the Cell Sharks survived a big scare to edge the determined Southern Kings 19-17 after they trailed the Eastern Cape side 8-14 at halftime. Kings flyhalf Lionel Cronje missed with a difficult penalty kick towards the end that would have clinched the game for his side.

A hat-trick of tries by right win Ramiro Moyano steered the Jaguares to a comfortable 41-14 home victory over the injury-hit Toyota Cheetahs. The home side made a very good start in Buenos Aires and they laid the winning platform with a solid first half by display by scoring three of their five tries inside the opening half hour.

The Jaguares and the Emirates Lions have 14 points from four games with the Argentine side leading the Africa Conference 1 on point difference.

On Friday night, a brace of tries by Springbok centre Jan Serfontein in his first outing of the season guided the Vodacom Bulls to their first win when they defeated the Sunwolves 34-21 in Pretoria despite playing the majority of the second half with fourteen men. Lock Ruan Bothma was sent off just after halftime for a dangerous tackle.
