Head of England Sevens Simon Amor has made one change to his squad for the HSBC World Sevens Series tournament in Cape Town (13-15 December, live on Sky Sports Action).

Fresh from securing bronze in their series opener in Dubai, England take on Scotland, Spain and France in an all-European Pool C.

Phil Burgess once again captains the side while Richard de Carpentier comes into the 12-player group after Ethan Waddleton returned home with a knee injury. Will Edwards is named as 13th man.

Amor said: “This week has been a strong recovery week for the players.

“We’re pleased with getting on the podium last weekend but what I was more pleased with was our ability to mix things up and try some new things. Some things we got right, some things we got wrong.

“We’re going to do the same this weekend. We know that may mean we make some mistakes but in terms of our growth and our learnings, trying new ideas and seeing how they work is critical to helping us to continue to improve in this World Series with Tokyo at the end.

“We’re excited about our first games, particularly against Scotland which is just great in terms of embracing the competition for places in the Great Britain squad.”
