Nelson Mandela Bay will be hosting a festival of rugby in June, with Wales, Scotland and now the Bulls fixtures confirmed.

EP Rugby CEO, Charl Crous, said the match between the EP Kings and Wales – as a warm-up to the tourist’s two-Test series against the Springboks – had been approved by the Executive Council of the South African Rugby Union (SARU).

The match will take place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday, 10 June with kickoff at 19:00.

Crous also confirmed that the next Super Rugby friendly, between the Southern Kings and the Bulls, had now also been confirmed.

“We are happy to announce that the Southern Kings will be playing against the Bulls on Saturday, the 21st of June,” he said,

Crous said the game would kick off at 17:00.

The following week, the 28th of June, the Springboks will play against Scotland at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Commenting on the mid week game against Wales, Crous said this was to fit in with the touring side’s schedule, as they were playing their first Test match against South Africa in Durban on Saturday, 14 June before heading to Nelspruit a week later.

Crous said with the two fixtures now confirmed, rugby lovers from the region were in for a treat.

“June is going to be a festival of rugby in the Eastern Cape, with three international teams, the Springboks, Scotland and now Wales, playing at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, and now also the Bulls,” he said.

“This is obviously a great opportunity for us in terms of preparing for our entry into Currie Cup Premier Division, with the chance to test ourselves against an internationally competitive team as highly rated as Wales, as well as against a calibre Super Rugby team like the Bulls,” he said.

Crous said ticketing details for the games would be announced at a later date.
