Western Force

The seven-time champion Crusaders have suffered a shock loss to the Force in their Super 14 clash in Perth on Friday.

The Force won 24-16 after trailing 13-0 at half-time.

The Force scored three tries through prop Pek Cowan, flank Matt Hodgson and hooker Ben Whittaker. Flyhalf David Hill landed three conversions and a penalty.

The Crusaders replied with a try by scrumhalf Kahn Fotuali’i, who also landed a drop goal. Flyhalf Dan Carter kicked a conversion, a penalty and drop goal.

The Force picked up four points for their victory and moved to 11th in the standings while the Crusaders left empty-handed and remained in second position on the log.

In next weekend’s Round 12 action the Force travel to Johannesburg to face the Lions while the Crusaders play the Stormers at Newlands.
