Boom Prinsloo was a wonderful and loyal servant of the Cheetahs and Free State Rugby wish him all of the best on his future rugby endeavours.

Prinsloo represented the Toyota Cheetahs in 50 Vodacom Super Rugby and the Toyota Free State Cheetahs in 30 Currie Cup matches.

Boom represented Free State at U18 (2007), U19 (2008) and U21 (2009) level and he made his debut for the Toyota Free State Cheetahs in a Vodacom Cup match against Boland Cavaliers in Bloemfontein on 6 March 2010 and his Currie Cup debut against the Leopards in Bloemfontein on 16 July 2011.

He became a more physical player while playing a starring role in the SA Sevens side during 2010-2012 seasons. He made his Vodacom Super Rugby debut for the Toyota Cheetahs against the Sharks in Durban on 14 July 2012.

Because of a shoulder injury, he only played two matches in 2012.

In 2013 he played in 12 Vodacom Super Rugby matches and in 11 Currie Cup and lead the team in 9 matches as captain. In 2014 Prinsloo was one of the star players in Vodacom Super Rugby (14 matches), but a groin injury sidelined him for most of the Currie Cup season.

The lively loose forward played in 16 Super matches during 2015 and a jaw injury only allowed him to play four Currie Cup matches. Boom was injured after playing in the first six Vodacom Super Rugby matches in 2016, which sidelined him for the rest of the year. He returned to play for his 50th Vodacom Super Rugby cap against the Bulls on the 4th of March 2017.

After his great service to the Cheetahs, the Free State Cheetahs has decided to release him from his contract to pursue new opportunities.
