FRESH Nation (men’s) and Cott Girls (women’s) have taken out their respective titles at Alcohol.Think Again Beach 5s at Scarborough Beach on Saturday.

FRESH Nation proved too strong for Wests Scarborough in the final, running out 5-4 winners to claim the Beach Eagle Trophy; while only a try separated the women’s decider as well, with Cott Girls edging out Uprising, four tries to three to lift the Beach Club Trophy.

The Scarborough Beach amphitheatre was again crowded with keen onlookers as 12 teams contested the two divisions at one of Perth’s most iconic beaches.

RugbyWA Sevens Competitions Coordinator, Nicole Serafini said the beach tournament is growing into a key event on the WA Sevens calendar.

“We had a great following for our inaugural event last year, and to have another strong turnout – both in terms of the quality of rugby and number of spectators – is an indicator towards the growing potential of our Beach 5s tournament,” she said.

“The rugby was fast and entertaining, and we had good support from our local players, which is important to the success of these tournaments.

“Congratulations to both Cott Girls and FRESH Nation on taking out their competitions, and we’re already looking at how we can continue to improve the event next year.”

The next Summer Series Sevens events will take place at the KK Invitational (Friday, 19 December to Sunday, 21 December) and the Margaret River Sevens (Saturday, 7 February and Sunday, 8 February). Click here to register your team now.
