The Griquas Under-19 team on Monday forfeited nine log points in the Absa Under-19 B Division Provincial Championship after being found guilty of breaching Law 13.3 which relates to the movement of players.

The team named Toyota Free State Under-19 player Granville Adams on the bench in their clashes against the Pumas and Griffons without receiving permission from his home union, which resulted in the Kimberley-based team being found guilty of contravening the Law.

As a result the points accumulated by the team during those two matches have been deducted. This forced the team two positions down the log table from fifth position to seventh.

With Griquas finishing outside of the top four on the log standings, this decision will have no influence on the semifinals this weekend.

In his findings Judicial Officer Peter Ingwersen said it was evident that there was no intentional disregard for the regulations and decided that no financial sanction would be imposed.

Ingwersen rejected the request by the competing teams that the points forfeited by Griquas be added to their total.
