Loading...The English club is one of the oldest in the world, and certainly the oldest at the Beachcomber World Club 10s. It was established in 1866 and is one of the founder members of the Rugby Football Union (RFU). ‘Quins’, as they are affectionately known, have been one of the cornerstone clubs of the English game and fittingly play out of the Stoop ground, which lies in the shadow of Twickenham. A club with a rich history, perhaps Quins’ greatest record is that the club saw eight of its members playing in a World Cup final – a feat unlikely to ever be repeated. Seven Harlequins players appeared for England in 1991 final (Will Carling, Simon Halliday, Jason Leonard, Brian Moore, Paul Ackford, Mickey Skinner, Peter Winterbottom) while Australia’s Troy Coker was also a Quins man. More recently they won the 2012 Aviva English Premiership and have also won the country’s knockout competition twice. The club has seen dozens of England internationals come through its ranks and it is currently home to the likes of Chris Robshaw, Joe Marler, Danny Care and Mike Brown.
