New Zealand Rugby congratulates Sir Bryan Williams on being named a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2018 Honours List for services to rugby.

New Zealand Rugby Chief Executive Officer, Steve Tew said Sir Bryan’s involvement and service to the game has been virtually life long and covered all aspects.

“The rugby community in New Zealand and internationally has a huge amount of respect for Sir Bryan and we extend our heartfelt congratulations on his knighthood.

“Sir Bryan has made an enormous contribution to rugby both on and off the field.

“From playing, coaching, as an administrator and most recently as a trustee with the New Zealand Rugby Foundation supporting ‘catastrophically injured’ rugby players.

“His knighthood for services to rugby recognises his outstanding involvement and contribution to the game,” said Tew.

Sir Bryan made his All Black debut on the 1970 tour of South Africa and went on to play 113 times in the black jersey.
