The NSW Waratahs have received a timely boost with the announcement that Australian Men’s Olympic Sevens representative, Cameron Clark has signed with the team until the end of 2018.

The 23-year -old has made a huge name for himself in the Seven-a-side game, as a key member of the Australian Sevens team since 2012, which recently participated in the Olympic Games in Rio.

He has played in 30 Sevens World Series, during which time he has secured over 600 points.

Clark has been bestowed the title of Men’s Sevens Player of the Year twice at the John Eales Medal and Rugby Union Players’ Association Awards in 2014 and 2015 respectively and was named in the Sevens World Series Team of the Year following a thrilling campaign in 2013/14.

NSW Waratahs Head Coach, Daryl Gibson said he was delighted to welcome Clark to the squad as he seeks a new challenge back in the 15-a-side game.

“Cam has had a hugely successful career in Sevens already. He looks a dangerous and threatening player with ball in hand so I’m looking forward to working with him,” Gibson said.

“He’s looking for a challenge back in 15s and will no doubt add to the competition for spots next season.

“He’s recently been named in the Sydney Rays for this year’s NRC, which will be a great opportunity for him to find his feet and transition from Sevens.”

A member of the Australian Schoolboys side in 2011, Clark has since been plying his trade in the Australian Sevens program, making his debut on the World Series circuit in Wellington in February 2012.

He won bronze in the Australian Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011 and again in 2014 as part of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Clark was born in Auckland New Zealand but was raised in Sydney where he attended St Ives North Public School and Knox Grammar.
