The teams have been announced, the boys have been capped, the excitement is building and their bags are packed. There is only a week to go before the U13 Coca-Cola Craven Week at Hoërskool Rob Ferreira in White River.

 

Schoolboy rugby tournaments are vital to ensure the growth of the sport in South Africa, and with this opportunity allowing the best young players in the country to test themselves against their provincial counterparts; all the boys will give 100%.

 

The best part about playing at one of the biggest annual youth rugby tournaments in South Africa is the enormous support the boys get from their families and the local community. Tickets will be on sale at the venue and will cost R30 for adults and R10 for scholars.

 

“The Coca-Cola Youth Weeks offer the best young talent in the country the opportunity to showcase their skills and make their presence felt,” said SARU CEO Jurie Roux. “Springboks such as Handre Pollard and Jan Serfontein made their way through these structures from the U13 Coca-Cola Craven Week to the U18 Coca-Cola Craven Week, and they will both be in contention for selection for the Springbok Rugby World Cup squad later this year. So come down to Hoërskool Rob Ferreira in White River and watch our next generation of players in action.”

Eighteen teams from all over the country and as and far as Zimbabwe and Namibia will compete to be crowned best team in White River. Regardless of the outcome, one thing is for certain, from 29 June to 3 July the rugby community will be in for a treat as the country’s future stars are unearthed.

  • Under-16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week – July 6 to 9 – Bridgton Sports Grounds, Oudtshoorn
  • Coca-Cola Academy Week – July 6 to 9 – Isak Steyl Stadium, Vanderbijlpark
  • Under-18 Coca-Cola Craven Week – July 13 to 18 – Paul Roos Gymnasium, Stellenbosch
