Ospreys Rugby are delighted to announce that Sam Parry has become the latest player to commit to the region, the fourth member of the senior squad to sign a new deal ahead of next season.

The hooker has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and he follows on from Welsh internationals Adam Beard and Owen Watkin, along with Olly Cracknell, in agreeing a new contract to stay at the Liberty Stadium.

Parry is in his fourth season with the Ospreys having signed from the Dragons in the summer of 2014. He made his debut for the region on the opening day of the 14/15 season, coming off the bench in a 44-13 win over Benetton at the Liberty Stadium, and has been a mainstay of the team ever since with 77 appearances to date.

With 10 tries to his credit, he remains the only forward ever to have scored a hat-trick for the Ospreys, having scored three against Zebre in the opening round of last season.

“I’m really happy to have got this sorted” said Parry.

“I’m looking forward to the next two years and playing as much as I can. I’m really happy being a part of this region. There’s strong competition in my position and that’s a good thing for all of us. Nobody wants to miss out on selection so that competition drives us all on, we know that we have to be at our best every week if we want to be involved.

“It’s great that I’ve got this new contract, now I want to continue developing as a player and repay the Ospreys’ faith in me, helping the team to be successful.”

Dan Griffiths, Rugby General Manager at the Ospreys, welcomed the news, saying:

“Sam is someone who has thrived in our environment, developing into an integral member of the squad. Hooker is a position where we have considerable strength in depth, with Scott Baldwin and Scott Otten also competing for the jersey, but Sam has risen to the challenge to establish himself as a key player for us.

“He has a great attitude and work ethic and is always keen to learn and improve. The challenge for Sam now as a senior player is to set the standards and lead from the front both on and off the field.”

In addition to the four players signing new contracts, teenagers Will Jones and Reuben Morgan-Williams have been rewarded for their progress with their first professional contracts, while Wales backs Aled Davies and Scott Williams have also been confirmed as joining the region this summer.
