The charges against Kieran Brookes of Northampton Saints for charging into a ruck, contrary to Law 10.4(h) and Calum Green of Newcastle Falcons for striking with his arm, contrary to Law 10.4(a) were heard in Leeds this evening.

Brookes pleaded guilty and was given a two-week suspension. He is free to play again on Tuesday 13th December. Green also pleaded guilty but was given a one-week suspension. He is free to play again on Tuesday 6th December.

The RFU Disciplinary panel, said: “Both of these cases were considered low-end entry points by the panel however Kieran Brookes does not have a clean disciplinary record and so the panel did not feel able to reduce the sanction to one week as they could in the case of Calum Green.”

Brookes was sent off by referee Andrew Jackson in the weekend’s Aviva Premiership match between Northampton and Newcastle for charging into a ruck and making contact with the head of Scott Lawson of Newcastle.

In the same match, Green struck Brookes of Northampton with his forearm and was subsequently cited by the citing commissioner.

The RFU Disciplinary panel comprised of Mike Hamlin (Chairman), Dr Barry O’Driscoll and Guy Lovgreen.

Full judgement and footage of the incidents will be available on this link in the next few days: http://www.englandrugby.com/governance/discipline/judgments-document-search/
