Mathew Luamanu of Harlequins appeared before an RFU disciplinary panel this evening charged with dangerous charging, contrary to law 10.4(g).

Luamanu was sent off by referee Tom Foley in the weekend’s Aviva Premiership match between Harlequins and Sale Sharks for dangerously charging Josh Beaumont of Sharks. The incident occurred in the second half of the game.

The back row forward pleaded guilty and was given a three-week ban. He is free to play again on the 3^rd of October.

Jerry Summers, RFU disciplinary panel chairman said: “”The panel found that this was a reckless act by the player. However it was a forceful collision resulting in a concussion being sustained by Josh Beaumont which was taken in to account when finding this a mid-range offence. The player was thereafter given full mitigation reducing this to a three-week ban.”

The RFU disciplinary panel comprised of Jeremy Summers, Bonike Erinle and Robert Horner.
