As the countdown draws closer for the Irish Test Series, Australians will once again witness how the game demands an equal mix of strength, speed and stamina in order to claim gold.

To help maximise performance, Rugby Australia has partnered with the world’s leading sports compression brand 2XU in a three-year deal.

Designed and tested in consultation with leading sports scientists and athletes, 2XU compression has been proven to help athletes run up to 10.6 seconds faster over a five-kilometre distance and reduce their heart rate by up to 2.5 per cent for exercise bouts up to 15 minutes.

2XU compression has also proven to speed up recovery by increasing blood flow and blood lactate removal and reducing muscle swelling.

General Manager of Commercial Partnerships at Rugby Australia Peter Sciberras said: ‘’This new partnership was a natural fit as 2XU prides itself on being innovative and ahead of the curve.

‘’Both the Qantas Wallabies as well as the Australian Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams will now be kitted up in world-class compression to help them prepare for the world stage,’’ said Sciberras.

2XU Global CEO Paul Higgins said he was looking forward to seeing Australia’s best rugby players train, compete and recover in 2XU in the lead-up to major international events including the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
