SANZAR today wishes to remind fans of a new service that allows viewers in countries where there is no television broadcast agreement in place to watch The Rugby Championship for 2012.

The new service will allow viewers from many countries, especially in Europe and South America, to watch The Rugby Championship, featuring the top-three nations in world rugby – the All Blacks, Wallabies and Springboks – and tournament debutants the Pumas.

SANZAR CEO Greg Peters said it was good to be able to expand coverage, further extending rugby’s global footprint.

“We offered this service during the Super Rugby Final, and are proud to announce that more viewers all around the world can watch the new and exciting competition, The Rugby Championship,” Peters said.

“Argentina’s inclusion is a historic occasion, further extending the unique competition to include four nations over different time zones – and the new flavour of The Rugby Championship can be enjoyed by more fans than ever thanks to our new service.”

The service will be in place for the opening round this weekend, with the Wallabies hosting the All Blacks in Sydney, while the Springboks will entertain the Pumas in Cape Town.

The service will not only allow full viewing for the 2012 season, but SANZAR can confirm that Super Rugby and The Rugby Championship for the 2013 seasons will have the online viewing package in place.

PERFORM, who will work with SANZAR in delivering this service, has one of the largest sports rights portfolios for over 200 sporting codes, and last year delivered nearly 3 billion video streams, and has a reach of hundreds of million sporting fans.
