The United Rugby Championship will collaborate with Roc Nation Sports to work with clubs and players across the league to produce a series of content designed to shine a spotlight on their off-field endeavours, providing them with a platform to tell their unique stories.
This initiative forms part of the URC’s strategy to put players at the heart of the league and provide more opportunities to help shape how the URC is marketed to its global audience.
Siya Kolisi, who plays for the Cell C Sharks in the United Rugby Championship, is the first subject in the series which launches today as he talks about his life away from the pitch, how the Kolisi Foundation was created and how their work helps people in his home of South Africa.
Siya Kolisi, South Africa and Cell C Sharks player, said: “The Kolisi Foundation is a big part of my life and having more opportunities to talk about what we are trying to achieve will only help our cause. There are many players in the league that have a story to tell and I can’t wait to see more of these come to life through this series.”
The ‘Player in Focus’ content series forms part of the United Rugby Championship’s ‘Take on Tomorrow’ programme designed to inspire change through the power of rugby and provide a platform that recognises the impact that its players and teams make away from the field of play. This content will be showcased on the United Rugby Championship’s social media channels “@URCofficial” on Instagram, Facebook, Tik-Tok, YouTube and Twitter and feature more players from the league over the coming weeks and months.

‘Take on Tomorrow’ Mission Statement
The ‘Take on Tomorrow’ programme is inspired by the mission to celebrate the diversity and national cultures of the URC while using the league’s platform to champion for a healthier, stronger and more unified next generation. The programme will advance and celebrate the power of URC rugby as tool for social change by using our international platform to support the efforts of clubs, players, fans and leading charities as they change lives of young people across the five territories in which we play.
Big Picture Project
The United Rugby Championship is proud to announce the launch of the ‘Big Picture Project’ – a unique photography-based educational course that will identify one young person to be a behind-the-scenes photographer at the URC Grand Final in June.
As part of the Take on Tomorrow programme, the Big Picture Project will offer 75 places to young people aged 18-25 with virtual teaching sessions providing key lessons in photography so they can capture scenes from around the URC’s rugby communities that celebrate unity and respect.
