SOUTHERN KINGS POST MATCH MEDICAL REPORT

Loading...In the wake of the Southern Kings’ 43-13 loss to Glasgow Warriors in the GUINNESSPRO14 action on Friday, team doctor Clement Plaatjies reported that there were a number of injury concerns in the camp.
Most notable of these was the concussion suffered by debutant flyhalf Martin Du Toit who will now definitely miss the Kings next match against Ulster as a result.
“We will follow the normal procedure and monitor his condition and he will only be available for selection again once he has been symptom-free for a week. I expect him to only be ready again for the match against Scarlets,” said Dr Plaatjies.
“Our other major worry is team captain Michael Willemse who has been battling with an abdominal strain for a while now. It only seems to flare up during matches and he really battled with it against the Glasgow Warriors so we are going to have a scan done on it when we are back in Port Elizabeth. We will then be able to make a call on whether he will be eligible to play against Ulster next weekend,” said Dr Plaatjies.
The doctor also reported that both wing Alshaun Bock and prop forward Rossouw Dr Klerk were experiencing discomfort with shoulder pain and that loose-forward Ruaan Lerm had a stiff ankle.
“Ruaan has just returned from injury so some stiffness is to be expected and I’m confident that he will be fine. We will treat and monitor Alshaun and Rossouw during the week and hopefully they will respond and be ready for Ulster,” he said.
The Kings next GUINNESSPRO14 fixture, against Ulster, will be played at the Wolfson Stadium in Kwazakhele on Saturday, 4 November, kick-off at 15:00 (SA time).
