Luke Watson returns to the starting line up at no 7 and takes over the captaincy of the side, with Andries Strauss taking up the Vice Captain role.

Cornel du Preez moves to eighthman to cover for Jacques Engelbrecht who is missing the game due to a bad ankle sprain

Wimpie van Der Walt moves to 6

David Bulbring comes into the starting line up at 5 in place of Rynier Bernardo

There are some concerns around Kevin Buys’ fitness after a back injury during the game against the Waratahs and as such the prop position at no 3 remains open for now. A decision will be taken on Thursday regarding the position, following an assessment of Buys. This will also have an impact on who is chosen as a reserve prop on the bench at 17.

SP Marais comes back to the side after recovering from his knee injury during the Chiefs game, replacing Siviwe Soyizwapi on the bench
