St.George Queensland Reds scrumhalf Nick Frisby has signed a two-year contract extension to remain at Ballymore until 2019.

The 24-year-old has been at the Reds since 2011 and last season established himself as the side’s starting scrumhalf, while also making his Test debut for the Wallabies.

Brisbane born and raised, Frisby cut his teeth at Marist College Ashgrove and local club GPS, where he was coached at colts and senior level by recently appointed Reds attack coach Shane Arnold.

Frisby has gained impressive experience in his time at Ballymore, last year reaching the 50 cap milestone for Queensland, along with his first five caps for Australia. He was also a senior figure in McInnes Wilson Lawyers Brisbane City’s back-to-back title run in the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship, coached by Reds head coach Nick Stiles and Arnold.

“Ballymore has been home for a long time and it’s somewhere I’ve made a lot of great memories, so I’m really pleased to know my future is here for at least another couple of years. I feel like I’ve still got a lot to achieve in the Reds jersey,” Frisby said.

“The guys have worked incredibly hard over the pre-season and we’re really looking forward to the season.”

Reds head coach Nick Stiles said he was keen to see how much more Frisby could develop as a player and leader in the coming years.

“Nick joined the Reds six years ago and has grown immensely as a player in that time, but we feel strongly that his best years are still ahead of him. He’s a talented athlete, as shown through his selection for the Wallabies last year, but we’re looking forward to him continuing to grow as a leader within the group.”
