One of our philosophies as a bank is to connect with our valued customers in all the communities that we serve. As such, we’re proud to be involved in the Mzwandile Mali Memorial Rugby Tournament taking place in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth. Our involvement started when we were approached by our Regional Head, Lincoln Mali in 2014, as he wanted to honour his father, Mzwandile Mali’s legacy by giving back to the community through sports.

This exciting tournament is a great opportunity to for us to contribute to the revival of township rugby and is also a great way to bring the community together at the start of the rugby season. The tournament takes place between 4 and 16 March this year and the 16 local participating schools will be playing to win a R50 000 prize, for the winner, while the 2 runner-ups will walk away with R25 000 each.

We are also involved in other schoolboy rugby tournaments across the country because we believe that the youth can benefit from the social skills of teamwork, camaraderie and sportsmanship that they can learn through sports.

Some of the participating schools include;

  • Rosedale
  • Kwanobuhle
  • Zwide
  • New Brighton
  • Motherwell
  • Korsten
  • Betheldsorp
  • Swartkops
  • Kwazakhele
  • Walmer
  • Invitation Side
