Morgan Piek – The Toyota Free State Cheetahs will be facing the MTN Golden Lions in Bloemfontein this coming weekend in the 6th Round of the 2012 ABSA Currie Cup.  The biggest development in Bloemfontein is the inclusion of Tewis du Bruyn at flyhalf instead the battling Sias Ebersohn. Ebersohn once more finds himself on the bench in the now familiar number 20 jersey.

Tewis du Bruyn himself is not unfamiliar with the flyhalf position. In his previous game in the number 10 jersey last season he had a very impressive game. He has played flyhalf in Super Rugby against the Bulls at Loftus Versveld as well. In that game he fared very well at flyhalf.

Still battling with tons of injuries, Naka Drotske is still using Hendro Scholtz, this week however he gets a start. In all fairness to Scholtz who recently came out of retirement to help out at the Cheetahs, wasn’t looking all that fit during training last week. However, this week he is visibly looking fitter and sharper.

The Toyota Free State Cheetahs may get an immense boost next weekend at the Loftus Versveld when they face-off against the battling Vodacom Blue Bulls. Springbok prop Coenie Oosthuizen started training on Monday and will get 45 minutes next week, provided he makes it through training this week without any pain.

Francois Uys returns from his two-week suspension and will give the Cheetahs added strength and physicality upfront, while Carl Wegner finds himself on the bench and is most likely to remain there for the rest of the season.

The team management took the tough decision of having Andries Ferreira operated on this week. Andries has been struggling with his knee for quiet sometime and will miss the remainder of the season in order to recover.

The Toyota Free State Cheetahs side to play the MTN Golden Lions is as follows:

15. Hennie Daniller, 14. Nico Scheepers, 13. Robert Ebersohn (Captain, 12. Andries Strauss, 11. Raymond Rhule, 10. Tewis du Bruyn, 9. Sarel Pretorius, 8. Hendro Scholtz, 7. Lappies Labuschagne, 6. Heinrich Brussow, 5. Izak van der Westhuizen (Vice Captain), 4. Francois Uys, 3. Marcel van der Merwe, 2. Hercu Liebenberg, 1. Schalk van der Merwe.

Replacements:

16. Elandré Huggett, 17. Ross Geldenhuys, 18. Carl Wegner, 19. Davon Raubenheimer, 20. Sias Ebersohn, 21. Phillip Snyman, 22. Rayno Benjamin.
