Tiaan Liebenberg
The inclusion of Tiaan Liebenberg at hooker is the only change to the Stormers starting XV for the Super 14 showdown with the Hurricanes at Newlands on Saturday.
It confirms the statements of Stormers coach Allister Coetzee earlier in the week, that some fringe players had given him plenty of selection options with their stand-out performances in the shut-out of the Highlanders last week.
Liebenberg was struck down on the day of the game with flu, with Deon Fourie replacing him in the starting XV. Fourie had a storming performance, but Liebenberg remains the coach’s first choice.
However, elsewhere a couple of players who came in last week have managed to retain their places.
Wing Gio Aplon, who dropped to the bench after also battling with flu last week, has been kept out by Sireli Naqelevuki – who replaced him in the starting team against the Highlanders.
Another player who got his first start of the season last week, lock Anton van Zyl, also retained his place this week.
As do scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage, who came in for Springbok Ricky Januarie.
