The 2013 Rugby season up and running now, with the Easter Festivals underway.

I’ve got the privellage of covering the Maritzburg 150th Festival.

First up I’ll be covering the Top 5 players to watch out for at Maritzburg:

5. Mihlali Nchukana – Dale College

Mihlali is a skillfull loosie who gets around the park, brilliant fetcher with an eye for the tryline.

He possesses game breaking abilities & who can change a game at any moment.

4. Frans Steyn – Affies

Frans is a short steadily built hooker who possesses great pace and is a devastating ball carrier whom can also hold his own at the breakdown with turnovers.

3. Rudolph Snyman – Affies

Standing at 2 metres tall surely the tallest school rugby boy in SA.

Brilliant lineout jumper who also gets around the field.

Being tipped for greater honours after school.

Anyone mention SA Schools?

2. Frans Van Wyk – Monument

Frans is a powerful scrummager who is expected to make a huge contribution for his team, with his mobility & good ball carry attributes.

1. Jurie Linde – Affies

Affies outside centre Jurie is expected to make a huge impact in the Affies backline.

Jurie is an elusive runner, with an eye for the gap.

Jurie has the centre abilities remeniscent of Springbok centre Jacques Fourie. Deadly running lines & solid on defence.

Its no secret these 5 players will light up the Maritzburg Festival and surely be up for SA Schools selection based on natural talent.

The main issue is they will need to work hard and do the hard yards.

It all starts of the field on how they carry themselves, self discipline is the order of the day.

Good-luck to all the teams & players taking part at Maritzburg 150 Festival sure is going to be a great festival.
