Australian Women’s Sevens ready to go again in Japan
The Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens squad for round three of the HSBC Sevens World Series has been named, as the Aussie 7s look to bounce back after taking the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Interim Head Coach John Manenti has made three changes from the squad that competed at the Commonwealth Games with Sharni Williams (ankle) and Ellia Green (knee) to miss the tournament because of injury.

Charlotte Caslick was not considered for selection due to the Return to Play concussion management protocol.

Australia currently leads the HSBC Sevens World Series standings on 40 points with New Zealand (30 points) and Canada (30 points) hot on their tail.

Australia has been placed in Pool A with China, Ireland and Spain and will kick off their campaign on Saturday 21 April.

Interim Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens Head Coach, John Manenti said: “The team has been through a range of mixed emotions over the last 48 hours after that thrilling Final against New Zealand but fortunately, we don’t have to wait to get back on the park.

“Our whole focus will be on this next challenge ahead of us and such is the nature of Rugby Sevens you have to get back up very quickly for the next round of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

“We have some new players coming into the squad who will bring some enthusiasm and energy to the team with Page, Yasmin and Lauren now getting their opportunity.

“Sharni’s going to have further scans to see the extent of the injury to her ankle and Ellia is one that we need to manage due to the nature of her original knee injury,” Manenti said.

Qantas Australia Women’s Sevens fixtures:
