Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-19 coach Jaco Pienaar beefed up his already formidable forwards pack for Friday’s SA Rugby Under-19 Provincial Championship match against Gauteng neighbours, the Xerox Golden Lions.

Pienaar moved Stassen to the side of the scrum for this clash at Loftus Versfeld, with Marius Verwey slotting into the engine room. Other changes to the team that won in Bloemfontein against Free State last weekend include Stedman Gans, who slots in on the wing in place of Irvin Ali and Lourems Steenkamp, who replaces the injured Manie Libbok. Steenkamp’s place on the bench will be taken by Matt Kriel, younger sibling of Jesse and Dan.

The team is: Lourens Steenkamp, Ciaran Dayaram, Heino Bezuidenhout (c), Erich Cronje, Stedman Gans, Boeta Hamman, Joshua Allderman, Dylan van Der Walt, Hendre Stassen, Rickert Korff, Ruben van Heerden, Marius Verwey, IG Prinsloo, Johan Grobbelaar, Gerhard Steenekamp. Replacements: Nico Peyper, Simphiwe Matanzima, Tiny Mukhari, Erik Groenewald, MJ Hayes, Jason Olivier, Andell Loubser, Matt Kriel.
