All twelve participating teams in the upcoming IRB Junior World Championship 2012 in South Africa will have access to world-class health and fitness facilities thanks to an agreement between the South African Rugby Union (SARU) and Virgin Active SA.

The pair announced their partnership on Thursday, 19 April 2012, during a lunch-time media launch at the Virgin Active club in Constantia, Cape Town.

According to the agreement, Virgin Active SA will provide all JWC teams with exclusive access to its modern clubs across the Western Cape for the duration of the event.

Andy Marinos, the SARU General Manager: Marketing and Commercial, welcomed Virgin Active SA on board as an official Tournament Supplier: “Their involvement is a natural fit for this important tournament. To have Virgin Active SA on board is a real boost and the players will benefit tremendously from the easy access to their top-class equipment and facilities.”

Ross Faragher-Thomas, managing director for Virgin Active SA, said they were delighted to be involved as a supplier to the 2012 edition of the IRB Junior World Championship, which will be played across two venues during June in Cape Town.

“All the teams will have access to world-class training facilities at our health clubs in the Western Cape. We will offer them great hospitality and help them to stay fit and healthy and ensure peak performance while competing in our beautiful city,” said Faragher-Thomas.

The tournament runs from 4 to 22 June and matches will be played at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch and the University of the Western Cape Sports Stadium in Bellville.

Virgin Active SA is also the official Health and Wellness Partner to the Springboks.
