Promising props Neethling Fouché, Leon Lyons and Sazi Sandi have all signed contract extensions with Western Province Professional Rugby (WPPR).

Imposing tighthead Fouché has developed into a formidable competitor in his three years in Cape Town, becoming a regular for both the DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province and has signed on for two more years with a view to taking his career to the next level.

Both Lyons and Sandi come from the Eastern Cape and attended the Western Province Rugby Institute straight after school before going on to represent the Junior Springboks in 2018.

Loosehead Lyons and tighthead Sandi have both broken into the senior squad in the last year, making their respective DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province debut’s in 2020.

DHL Stormers Head Coach John Dobson said that with talented young props such as Fouché, Lyons and Sandi all signed on, the front row factory is set to continue running smoothly.

“All three of these players have stepped up to become important cogs in our squad’s engine room and we are looking forward to seeing them develop further over the coming years.

“We have got some incredible front-row talent at our disposal and having Neethling, Leon and Sazi on our books going forward we can expect great things up-front,” he said.

WPPR Chairman Ebrahim Rasool said that having these three promising props on the books is an important indicator of the depth of the squad that is being built.

“It is important to constantly be looking ahead with a vision for the future and that is exactly what these three players represent to us.

“They have all shown incredible promise already and we look forward to seeing them develop further and taking our front row to even greater heights going forward,” he said.
