The Kenya Rugby Union will hold a Level 1 Strength and Conditioning course in Nairobi on 5th and 6th November.
The course will be facilitated by World Rugby accredited S& C Educator Geoffrey Kimani. The course venue will be confirmed in due course.
Clubs are invited to submit their designated nominee to the KRU via info@kru.co.ke by 4.00pm Friday 21 October 2016.

Ocholla – Kenya Cup Will Be Sizzling Hot
With the new Kenya Cup season set to kick off on Saturday 5 November, teams are into the home stretch with regard to their preparations and kenyacup.co.ke had the chance to catch up with Strathmore Leos Head Coach Mitch Ocholla for some insights ahead of the new campaign.
Commenting on the side’s pre-season preparations, Ocholla said, “So far, so good. Everything on paper is going as planned. The results we’ve posted so far are not a true reflection of what we intend to achieve this season.”
” The fourth place finish at the National Sevens Series and the Floodies plate final loss to Homeboyz are good results that we need to improve on. Come Kenya cup, our systems should be running in top gear. We do have two new players of note, Elkeans Musonye and Brian Bango who joined us in the off season from Western Bulls.”
Talking up the Leos expectations this season, Ocholla said, “We will take a game at a time and maximize on all opportunities we create this season.”
“This season’s Kenya cup will be sizzling hot. The teams are doing a great job. There are no teams that have been promoted which makes the competition stiffer. Its good that we retained the conference system that affirms continuity for the league. It will be very competitive especially after watching the Floodies, ” he concluded.
Blak Blad Out To Improve Performance
Blak Blad will be out to improve on last season’s 10th place finish when the new Kenya Cup season kicks off on Saturday 5 November.
Head Coach Michael “Tank” Otieno, speaking to kenyacup.co.ke said, “ Our preparations are going on well. We have an average of 50 players turning out for each session.”
“We some new boys coming through such as Brian Wahinya, Allan Ominde, Lionel Ekesa and Ian Obukwa. We still have seasoned players in the form of Levy Amunga, Wesley Kidinga and Steven Odhiambo in our ranks.”

“Looking at our expectations ahead of the new league season, we aim to obviously finish above last season’s final 10th place, “ said the former Kenya coach.
Wambua – Every Game Is Final
As Kevin Wambua prepares for his first Kenya Cup campaign as Mwamba Head Coach,kenyacup.co.ke got a chance to speak with him ahead of the new season
Wambua, who took over the reins at the1984 Kenya Cup champions in August said, “My main focus was to improve the players skill set and conditioning before introducing them to our patterns of play and structure. I am impressed at how quickly the boys have adapted and improved.”
Commenting on the Kenya Cup league which kicks off on Saturday 5 November 2016, Wambua said, “As far as the league is concerned we are taking it a game at a time but shall definitely put our best foot forward and treat every game like a final.”
“One can’t help but think that this season’s Kenya Cup will be very competitive… especially if we look at how close the games were during Floodies. The league has retained its conference format and with a reduced number of teams, there is no place to hide, there are no whipping boys either,” he added.
Wambua also spoke about the playing unit, saying, “We unfortunately lost Dan Sikuta who moved to Kabras Sugar in the off-season but as luck would so have it, this has actually paved the way for his younger brother Steve who has a lot of potential and is definitely a player to watch.”
“We are excited to have Kenya Sevens international Billy Odhiambo coming through from the Strathmore Leos and Alex Aturo from the MKU Titans. They are explosive players with that wow factor. They are good additions to Kulabu. We are still hoping to sign a few more players who have been on our radar before the close of the transfer window. We look forward to the new league season,” he concluded.

COMRAS Mashujaa Day Tournament Takes Place At Saints’
The Community Rugby Association, (COMRAS), will host the annual Mashujaa Day age grade tournament at the St. Mary’s School in Nairobi on Thursday 20 October 2016.
Patrick Lamok, the tournament coordinator, said, “ The one day tournament will feature action in four age grades, namely the U10s, U12s, U14s and 18s as well as action in the senior men and women competitions.”
“As is the case through and through, this is the climax of all the monthly tournaments that we host under the COMRAS umbrella and this year’s tournament will bring together close to 500 players, vying for honors in their respective categories.
