NRC giants to square off in Grand Final

Brisbane City will meet the University of Canberra Vikings in the Grand Final of the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship next Saturday afternoon at Ballymore Stadium, Brisbane (kick off 3pm local).

The Queenslanders booked their place in the Grand Final for a second successive year after seeing off the brave challenge of Peter Playford’s Sydney Stars at Ballymore (47-32). Man of the Match Liam Gill impressed once again as he crossed over for two tries as the Stars made life infinitely more difficult for the defending premiers than the 58-0 defeat they suffered just three weeks ago.

The UC Vikings, marshalled expertly by Wallaby superstar Christian Leali’ifano, will travel to Brisbane in good spirits having beaten a well-drilled Melbourne Rising outfit at Viking Park (50-34). Two tries from skipper Jarrad Butler and five successful conversions from Leali’ifano helped the Canberrans to their first Grand Final appearance.
