The All Blacks Sevens will be showing Cure Kids ambassadors around the Wellington Zoo today as part of the team’s commitment to giving back to the community in the lead up to the Wellington Sevens tournament this weekend.

Cure Kids is the charity partner of New Zealand Rugby. In 2016 Cure Kids and New Zealand Rugby launched the campaign ‘Everyone knows someone who needs a cure’ which is about getting New Zealanders to make personal connections between the crucial research that Cure Kids funds and the difference it makes in the lives children and young people they know.

EVENT DETAILS

What: All Blacks Sevens players and management will have lunch at Wellington Zoo with Cure Kids Ambassadors Elijah Amoha, who lives with leukaemia, and Finlay Sharkey-Burns, who lives with type-1 diabetes. The players will then take the Ambassadors and their families on a guided tour of the zoo.

When: 12.00pm-1.00pm, Thursday 26 January 2017. Please note that media need to arrive at the Wellington Zoo at 11.45am to receive a health and safety briefing.

Where: Wellington Zoo, 200 Daniell Street, Newtown, Wellington.

Who: Team spokespeople for the event will be All Blacks Sevens Captain Scott Curry and All Blacks Sevens newcomer Trael Joass. Trael Joass was diagnosed with a heart murmur when he was 16 and underwent heart surgery in 2014.
