ASICS Ambassador Werner Kok has won the 2015 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year Award.

The player received the award at the World Rugby Awards dinner on Sunday, 1 November in London.

The award emphasises the hard work that Werner has put in over the past couple of seasons, culminating in Werner establishing himself as a dominant defensive stalwart for the Blitzboks.

ASICS is the number one performance brand committed to aligning cutting-edge technology with top achieving athletes.

ASICS sponsored athletes push their limits to perform at incredible levels with the help of ASICS footwear and apparel as is evident that two of the three players nominated for the award are ASICS Ambassadors – with Seabelo Senatla also shortlisted.

Following the awards, Werner said “It’s an honour to win the award and to represent my country, my team and ASICS South Africa. The upcoming Sevens season is an exciting time for both myself as well as the team and we’re looking to build on the past year and go one step further by winning the tournament this time around”.

We are delighted for Werner and proud to be associated with him. It’s fantastic that his hard work and commitment in his performances have been recognised. We’re excited to see him further his development during the upcoming Sevens season“, says Sarah Mundy, Marketing Manager of ASICS South Africa.
