Australian Referee Angus Gardner has been rewarded for his excellent performances in 2016 alongside fellow Aussie, Nic Berry with major Tests throughout the November International window.

Gardner will officiate the clash between Wales and Argentina in Cardiff on November 12 and Nic Berry will become Australia’s newest test referee with his appointment to the Cup of Nations in Hong Kong.

Russia, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea will be competing in the competition.

ARU Head of Referees, Scott Young: “This is Angus’ fourth tier one Test match in a row and is a credit to the High Performance environment we are creating for our officials in Australian Rugby.

“For Nic, his continued rise through refereeing is a credit to his hard work and as a former player, highlights his detailed knowledge and feel for the game.”

The appointments come off the back of an impressive year for Australian referees with Angus Gardner refereeing the clash between the All Blacks and Springboks in Christchurch during the Rugby Championship and Amy Perrett becoming the first woman to be an Assistant Referee at Super Rugby level.
