Australian Rugby mourns the loss of Brian Cox #ARU

Loading...Australian Rugby has joined together in the mourning of Wallaby number 338, Brian Phillip Cox who passed away over the weekend at the age of 86.
Cox lived at Manly on Sydney’s Northern beaches and represented NSW on 14 occasions and earned nine Test caps for his country.
Australian Rugby Union CEO, Bill Pulver passed on his condolences to the family:
“A proud son of the Manly Marlins in Sydney. Brian was a talented halfback, known to be incredibly tough with a very accurate pass.
“Playing nine Tests for Australia, Brian did his country proud every time he wore the Wallaby Jersey.
“Hailing from a proud Rugby family, Brian’s two sons (Phillip and Mitchell) followed in their father’s footsteps and had the honour of playing for the Wallabies.
“The thoughts of the Australian Rugby community is with the Cox family at this time.”
Cox played 14 matches for New South Wales and 142 first grade games for the Manly Marlins.
Brian’s career at Manly did not finish when he stopped playing, working in various senior administrative roles in the club he was honoured with a life membership.
Brian continued to contribute to Rugby in his post-playing years as the voluntary time-keeper for Manly’s Club matches, NSW Waratahs home matches, and Sydney-based Test matches, dating from 1989 to 2006.
Outside of Rugby Brian worked for many years as a quantity surveyor.
Brian is survived through his sons Phillip and Mitchell who earned 27 Wallaby Test caps between them, and his wife Judy.
