The Black Ferns Sevens have advanced to the semi finals of Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 with dominant day one performances.

The defending champions kept a clean scorecard across their first two matches, beating Mexico 57-0 and Ireland 45-0.

Captain Sarah Goss scored the tournament’s first hattrick, while winger Michaela Blyde also nabbed a day one hattrick.

Coach Allan Bunting said it was pleasing to give all 12 players game time and hold on to possession for long periods of play.

“We achieved what we set out to achieve today. It was good to give everyone some game time, now we have to rest up and focus on tomorrow,” said Bunting.
