Blues winger David Raikuna has been added to a long injury list for 2012.

Another name has been added to the lengthy list of injured Blues players. Winger David Raikuna who was named to start against the Stormers tomorrow night inCape Townhas been withdrawn due to a hamstring injury. Raikuna strained his hamstring during training and has been ruled out to play. This means 20 year-old Aucklander Ben Lam will debut for the Blues, starting on the right wing and Francis Saili (brother of Peter) will move onto the bench in jersey 22. Both players are from the Blues Wider Training group.

UPDATE ON INJURED PLAYERS

JEROME KAINO – had shoulder surgery this week. All went well.

Time out from rugby – approximately six months

ANTHONY BORIC – A cautionary approach is being taken with Anthony’s neck injury and the plan is to give time for the pain to settle. He won’t play until the specialist says he can safely return to rugby.

Time out from rugby – estimated 2-6 weeks at this stage

ISAIA TOEAVA – having scans to investigate the problem and to check if the injury is related to last year’s stress fracture. Once the results are known, the team doctor will discuss with specialists the best approach and give an update next week.

RUDI WULF – Shoulder injury repairing well. It is expected Rudi will train with the team next week on their return fromSouth Africa and could possibly be available for the game against the Hurricanes on March 23. To be confirmed next week

GEORGE MOALA – shoulder repair is progressing well and he could possibly return to team training next week. How his shoulder stands up with reintegration to training will determine his availability to play.

Also unavailable to play this week – Rene Ranger, Tony Woodcock and Michael Hobbs. Woodcock will join the squad on their return fromSouth Africa.
