Statistics taken from the All Out Rugby App reads like a horror story for South African fans following the Springboks’ crushing 57-15 defeat to the All Blacks in Durban on Saturday.

Positive points are few and far between from a Bok perspective as the team suffered its biggest defeat at the hands of New Zealand.

The world champions ran in nine unanswered tries while the South Africans only had five Morne Steyn penalty conversions to show for their below-par effort.

It was a comprehensive defeat as the Boks battled to contain a rampant All Black side although the home side were still within touching distance trailing 12-9 at half-time.

The Boks barely got their hands on the ball while they were almost permanently pinned in their half with the Kiwis enjoying 69 percent of the possession and 76 percent of the territory.

The All Blacks were ruthless with the ball in hand making 754 running metres compared to the 148m by the South Africans.

This translated into 162 carries and 24 clean breaks, while they managed to beat 40 defenders during their blitzkrieg.

The hosts in comparison made only 56 carries and three clean breaks, with the side only beating three defenders and making five turnovers to the one by New Zealand.

With the All Blacks launching a wave of attacks the Boks were forced into defence which held strong for the first half of the encounter.

In the end the Boks made 175 tackles to the 71 by the New Zealanders with replacement flanker Jaco Kriel leading South Africa’s defensive charge.

Kriel made 18 tackles with Teboho Mohoje, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Damian de Allende making the second most in the match with 14 apiece.

The Boks also missed 40 tackles compared to the three by the All Blacks while the two sides were close in terms of handling errors with the visitors making two more than their counterparts (15-17).
