Brent Isbister, from the South Canterbury Rugby Union, has been appointed to the BNZ Crusaders Board as the appointee of the five regional Provincial Union shareholders. Brent replaces director Nick Patterson who sadly passed away in January.

Brent is well known to many in rugby circles as the Chairman of the South Canterbury Rugby Football Union, and a stalwart of the Pleasant Point Rugby Football Club.   His has been in his role as Chairman of South Canterbury for the past eight years, while balancing this commitment with committee duties on both the Pleasant Point RFC and Timaru Boys High School rugby committee.

As a dairy and beef farmer, Brent has also held governance roles within the rural sector, the most recent as the Chairman of the Aoraki Water Solutions Group.

He has also assisted New Zealand Rugby, sitting on their Appointments & Remuneration Committee for three years from 2010 to 2013.

BNZ Crusaders Chairman, Grant Jarrold, welcomed the experience that Brent brings to the Crusaders boardroom.

“Brent is a great addition to our board as he brings a wealth of knowledge from his involvement in club and provincial rugby.  He also has a strong skill set in rugby governance, particularly his role with the South Canterbury RFU, which gives a nice balance to our current director group at the Crusaders”.

Mr Isbister has officially joined the board, attending his first meeting earlier this month, and commented that he is excited by the challenge of his new directorship.

“I’m looking forward to representing the five Crusaders regional provincial unions at the board level, and offering my experience and learning to deliberations and decisions of the Board.”

Mr Isbister is married to Susan (Coker) and has two sons, McGregor (13) and Fergus (10).
